Dear visitor
We bid you a very warm welcome on our website.
2010 promises to become a very intensive year for Belgium: from July until December, the honour confers upon our country to preside over the Council of the European Union. This means that the integrated Police are also heading for an extraordinary active summer and autumn. We consider this a challenge to which we look forward with pleasure. Convinced by the huge potential of the approaching presidency, our organisation wishes to make an essential contribution in order to lead this ambitious event in all its aspects to a successful upshot.
Belgium takes over from Spain and precedes Hungary in the so-called trio presidency. In the build-up to this presidency, which begins on 1 July of this year, the integrated police wishes to present on this website the initiatives which will result in concrete projects, international conferences and partnerships.
Our helpfulness towards you, the citizen, is a value which we consider of paramount importance. This is why it is our greatest concern to keep you informed in a comprehensive way about the ins and outs in the European police structures. And why we are proud to have set up this website. The cell EU Presidency 2010 commits itself to offering you an accessible and well-organised whole: you are only a few mouse clicks away from a rich source of information about our numerous projects and initiatives. We sincerely hope to have aroused your interest in our site in case you would like tot go deeper into the fascinating world of the European institutions, we are happy to put you in touch with the official websites through the links.
We want to anticipate the dynamic activity, which such a presidency brings about, that is why this site will be updated on a regular basis. Nevertheless, we are continuously receptive for every suggestion to improvement. In this case, we invite you kindly to contact us.
The cell EU Presidency 2010 wishes you a great time surfing this website.
Master Message
Holding the Presidency of the European Union is at the same time a responsibility and an opportunity. A responsibility to bring the projects to a favourable conclusion in close collaboration with the 26 other Member States of the European Union and an opportunity to emphasise the subject matters that are of vital importance to the Belgian police.
These will be our priorities:
- Harmonising the concepts, means and practices of police cooperation in Europe;
- Optimising the operational cooperation of the European police forces by means of concrete actions;
- Promoting initiatives which have a direct impact upon the safety of the European citizens;
- Improving the security in Europe.
It is the ultimate goal of our programme to make a tangible contribution to the development of a Europe in which every citizen can feel safe as well as free and in which every police officer is able to fully carry out his missions in close collaboration with his European colleagues. To achieve this, we will put all the know-how of the Belgian police at the European Union’s disposal.
